A talk by the famed author, psychiatrist, and Jungian analyst.
Famed author, psychiatrist, and Jungian analyst Jean Shinoda Bolen, M.D., will give a free talk titled “At the Crossroads with Hecate.” Explains Dr. Bolen, “When major shifts happen in relationships, work, status, or health, we are in transition, no longer who we used to be in some significant way. We are at a choice-point, at the threshold of what may come next. We must make decisions that affect body and soul, our own and others'. Such crossroads are a time to call on Hecate, the Goddess of the Crossroads in Greek mythology, the archetype of the wise woman who could see where you had come from and which direction each of the choices would take you."
Jungian psychology explores symbolism, metaphor, dreams, and awareness of archetypes to help individuals discover and develop their personal myth and live with deep authenticity.
Jean Shinoda Bolen is the author of thirteen influential books in over 90 foreign translations including “The Tao of Psychology,” “Goddesses in Everywoman,” and “Gods in Everyman.” She is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a former clinical professor of psychiatry at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, University of California Medical Center, a past board member of the Ms. Foundation for Women, the International Transpersonal Association, and the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, and an NGO Permanent Representative of the Women’s World Summit Foundation (Geneva) to the UN. She has a private practice in Mill Valley, California.
This free talk is co-sponsored by Eugene Public Library and Eugene Friends of Jung. Book will be available for sale and signing at the event courtesy of J Michaels Books.
