Friendly Park is a well-loved 1.2-acre park located in the Friendly Neighborhood at the intersection of Monroe Street and West 27th Avenue. First purchased by the city for a park in 1953, the park has seen several rounds of development over its lifetime. The latest configuration includes a play structure, slides, swings, a merry-go-round, sand-and-water play area, a looped pathway, fixed benches, picnic tables, a drinking fountain, bike rack, and native plantings. In addition, volunteers built a new kiosk and installed stretch equipment. In 2013 neighbors upgraded the kiosk to include a Little Free Library using funds from the City of Eugene's Neighborhood Matching Grants Program.
