An article about doggy droppings in rain gardens flagged the health and environmental concerns of pet waste. A sidebar with information about the Canine for Clean Water program created an unexpected positive response from readers. To date, 45 dog owners signed the pledge to clean up after their dogs and received a free bandana to promote the good habit. The latest issue of Clean Water Connections arrived in mailboxes in mid-April with suggestions for residents about ways to keep pollution out of waterways. Articles also included bee (and human) safe pesticide application tips, less-toxic moss control measures, the benefits of planting a water-wise garden and the discoveries that can be found in our rich wetland system.
