EPD on the Beat - July 2017

On July 20, EPD responded to 288 calls for service and made 33 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 298 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 32. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 287, and the number of arrests was 33. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on July 20 is 236, and the average number of arrests, 29.

DUII/Interfering With Peace Officer – Case 1712071

A police officer observed a blue 2011 Minni Cooper travelling without headlights activated make an illegal U-turn on Oak Patch Road, and subsequently failed to activate the turn signal to make a lane change. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver Austin Davie Coy, age 29, of Eugene. After further investigation, he was arrested for DUII and Interfering With Police. Coy attempted to pull away from the officer during the arrest and refused to follow directions during the arrest. He was also cited for Driving Without Headlights, Failure To Signal Lane Change and Improper U-turn.

Possession of Methamphetamine/Criminal Trespass 1 – Case 1712058

Police responded to the area regarding a male subject who was camping on railroad property. Following contact with the subject, Jonathan Alonzo Walton, age 30, of Eugene, police found information to arrest him for Possession of Methamphetamine and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree.

Disorderly Conduct/Warrant – Case 1712056

Police responded to information of a male subject who was observed yelling in the direction of cars, hit another male subject and was swinging a gas tank toward another male subject. Police contacted the described subject, Todd Allen McGuire, age 53, who refused to identify himself to officers and it was eventually found that he had four warrants for arrest. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Interfering With Police, Disorderly Conduct and the warrants.

Burglary 1 – Case 1711492

Police responded to a parking garage on the 1300 block of Olive Street regarding a burglary, and received information that the suspects stole three bikes from the location. Pictures of the suspects were posted online, and police identified the suspects. On July 20, a police officer observed Benjamin Dean Turanski, age 23, of Springfield, riding his bicycle in the area of Willamette Street and W. Broadway and contacted him regarding the burglary. He was arrested for Burglary in the Second Degree, Theft in the First Degree (Bicycle) and Theft in the Second Degree (Bicycle). The investigation is ongoing.

Menacing – Case 1712025

Police responded to Dari Mart regarding a menacing and received information that a male subject attempted to enter the store, displayed a pointed object and threatened an employee. Police located the described subject, Elan Runescape Adahy, age 20, of Eugene, who was in the area of Jefferson Street and W. 1st Avenue. During contact with Adahy, police located the object on his person and arrested him for Menacing.

DUII/Reckless Endangering/Reckless Driving – Case 1711988

A police officer on patrol in the area observed a black 2008 BMW accelerate through the intersection and nearly strike an oncoming vehicle. The officer then observed the vehicle swerve to the left and failed to maintain a single lane of travel, before making an improper right hand turn at Hilyard Street without proper use of the signal. The officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, Ronald James Howard, age 22, and after further investigation, arrested him for DUII, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangering. He was also cited for Faliure to Drive Within Lane and Improper Right Turn.

Harassment Aggravated – 1711986

Police responded to the area regarding a disorderly subject in a No Trespass area who struck the window of an occupied vehicle that had pulled into a parking spot at the location, grabbed the door handle and attempted to enter the vehicle while yelling at the 21-year-old female victim. Police arrived to the location and observed the described subject, Aeson Noble Dickinson, age 38, of Eugene, concealed in the bushes of a residence on the 1700 block of Hilyard Alley, and contacted him regarding harassment. During contact with police, Dickinson displayed aggressive behavior and refused to provide identifying information to officers. He was arrested for Aggravated Harassment, Interfering With A Peace Officer, Attempted Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and a warrant. He was transported to the Lane County Jail.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1711983

Police responded to the area regarding a two vehicle crash involving a silver 2004 BMW X3 and a black 2005 Saturn Vue. Police received information that the BMW was traveling northbound on River Road and made a left turn in front of the Saturn onto Crocker Lane, and the Saturn was not able to avoid striking the BMW. Police contacted the involved drivers, and after further investigation, police arrested Victoria Lee Vandervelden, age 62, of Eugene, for DUII and Reckless Driving. She was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Failure to Register Sex Offender – Case 1711980

Police contacted Christopher Lee McGough, age 23, of Eugene, who was at the Lane County Jail on unrelated charges. Following contact with McGough, police found information to charge him with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Disorderly Conduct – Case 1711979

Police responded to the area regarding a disorderly subject who was swinging a machete in the roadway and causing an obstruction to motorists. Police located the described subject, Frank Ross Niemann, age 52, who was observed pushing a cart in the Lowes parking lot, with the machete inside the cart. Following contact with Niemann, he was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Lane County Jail.

Burglary 1/Warrant – Case 1711973

Police responded to a residence on Knoop Ave regarding a burglary in progress and received information of a white lifted Ford Econoline with off road type tires and chrome wheels, that was observed leaving the location. Police located the described vehicle and driver in the area of Royal Avenue and Wide Site Street and contacted the suspect James Charles Marineau, age 23, of Eugene. After further investigation, Marineau was arrested for Burglary in the First Degree and a warrant, and transported to the Lane County Jail.

DUII/Hit and Run/Driving While Suspended – Case 1711968

Police responded to a hit and run crash at the Exxon Mobil gas station on Royal Avenue and received information that a blue Dodge Ram 1500 crashed into the wall of the business causing damage to the building and left the location. Police located the described vehicle and driver at the registered residence on Candlelight Drive and contacted Randall Scott Stapleton, age 62, regarding the incident. After further investigation, Stapleton was arrested for DUII, Hit and Run and Driving While Suspended.

Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Vehicle  – Case 1711751

A 20-year-old man returned home from work and parked his vehicle in front of his house. When he went to leave for work in the morning, his Honda Accord was not there. He reported it stolen. Early in the morning on July 19, the vehicle was reported parked at a location with a man, Christopher Ray Stice, age 30, sleeping inside. An officer followed up and didn’t find the vehicle, but was familiar with Stice and went hunting for the vehicle and Stice. He found the vehicle parked off N. Jefferson Alley and spotted Stice, age 30, of Eugene, nearby. After contacting Stice and investigating further, he arrested Stice for Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Vehicle.

Dog at Large – Case 1711918

A pitbull was reported to have gotten loose and lunged at a pregnant woman and her 3-year-old daughter, who had had to jump on the back of a car to get away from the dog. An officer was sent to respond, and while she was on scene, the owner, Odessa Michelle McBridge, age 18, of Eugene, walked up. The officer spoke with McBride and then cited her for Dog at Large. She tore up the citation in front of the officer.

Unlawful Use of Weapon – Case 1711624

On July 13, officers were sent to Cubit and Wagner regarding a dispute involving pepper spray and a bat. When officers arrived, they found one of the involved parties, Kyle Ryan Clemons, age 35, behind Winco. He reported being attacked by another man with a baseball bat, then spraying the other man with pepper spray. Two hours later, officers received a call from the other involved man, age 26. He reported he had been with his 7-year-old child and her friend, and his 3-year-old, who was in a stroller. One of the girls reported a man, identified as Clemons, walking behind them and sticking his tongue out at her in a strange manner. The man told Clemons to stop following them and Clemons produced a can of pepper spray and deployed it against the victim, also impacting the children. The male victim grabbed a baseball bat, and swung it at Clemons. An Attempt to Locate was issued for Clemons for four counts of Unlawful Use of Weapon, four counts of Unlawful Use of Mace 2, and three counts of Reckless Endangering.  An officer found Clemons at Cubit and Wagner Street on July 19 at 6:27 p.m. and Clemons was arrested.


On July 18, EPD responded to 316 calls for service and made 27 arrests. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 293, and the number of arrests was 21. Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Menacing – Case 1711910

Police responded to the area regarding a male subject waving and pointing a handgun at people using the park. The subject, Dustin Brady Overton, age 24, of Eugene, was observed walking southbound from a residence on the 3900 block of Elmira Road, and contacted regarding the incident. Police located the involved replica gun at the residence and arrested Overton for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing in the First Degree and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. He was transported to the Lane County Jail.

Noise Disturbance – Case 1711915

Police responded to the location regarding a male subject who was yelling outside the residence. When police arrived, the officer could hear the subject, Immanuel Menelik Williams, age 32, who was in the backyard of the residence and had previously contacted  him regarding loud noise. Following contact with Williams, he was cited in lieu of custody for Prohibited Noise.

Disorderly Conduct/Criminal Trespass 2 – 1711897

Police responded to Dutch Bros. regarding a male subject who yelled and displayed aggressive behavior toward an employee after he was observed standing in the drive through lane and was asked to come to the other side of the business. The subject Curtis Aleksander Smith, age 37, of Eugene, refused to leave, and was contacted by police just north of the location after he was observed walking into traffic and causing motorists to swerve and stop to avoid hitting him. He was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree. Smith was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Harassment – Case 1711899

Police responded to the area regarding a dispute and received information that a male subject shoved a 50-year-old female subject, causing her to fall. Police contacted the male subject, Steven Kenneth Wilinson Jr., age 45, who was across the street and arrested him for Physical Harassment. He was transported to the Lane County Jail.

 

07/18/17 06:04, 4300 BLOCK OF COMMERCE ST

Interfering With Police/Hit and Run – Case 1711851

Police responded to the Jack in the Box restaurant regarding a Hit and Run and received information that a motorhome struck the canopy above the drive thru window several times, causing damage to the canopy and the roof rack of the vehicle, which was left at the location. Police eventually located the described vehicle in the area of River Road and McClure Lane and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. The officer made several attempts to contact the occupants, who went to the back of the vehicle following the stop and refused to follow direction from the officers to exit the vehicle, and they eventually exited the vehicle after pepper spray was dispersed inside the vehicle. Following contact with the subjects, police arrested Stephanie Ann Akers, age 18, of Eugene, and Joseph Paul Jared, age 27, of Eugene, for Interfering With Police. Akers received an additional charge of Hit and Run and was transported to the Lane County Jail.

False Information to Officer – Case 1711842

Police responded to the area regarding a vehicle/bike crash and received information that a vehicle was traveling through the intersection on a green light when it struck the bicyclist, who was observed traveling eastbound, disregarding the stop light. The bicyclist, Chrystal Amanda Lee Gray, age 38, of Eugene, was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Gray was contacted by police and provided false information regarding her identity. She was eventually arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for False Information to an Officer and a warrant. She was also cited for Failure To Obey A Traffic Control Device.

Unlawful Direct Light/Laser Pointer – Case 1711843

Police responded to the area regarding two male subjects who were shining laser lights at Portland Western Railroad employees. When police arrived to the location, the officer observed the laser directed at his patrol vehicle and contacted the subjects at the residence where the light had originated. Following contact with the subjects, Wesley Levi Moore, age 38, and Timothy Lee Moore, age 65, they were both cited for Unlawful Directing of a Laser Pointer.

Harassment/Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 1711837

Police responded to a residence regarding a harassment incident involving neighbors and received information that Shauna Stamm, age 43, of Eugene, approached the 72-year-old victim on her property, which is marked with a No Trespassing sign. Stamm was observed yelling and subsequently hit and scratched the victim. She was contacted by police, arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Harassment and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.


On July 17, EPD responded to 276 calls for service and made 22 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 295 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 31. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 239, and the number of arrests was 31. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on July 17 is 236, and the average number of arrests, 32. 

 

Last week (Sunday, July 9 – Saturday July 15) EPD responded to 2,065 calls for service and made 214 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last four weeks is 2,045 with 216 arrests. The number of calls for service during the same week last year was 2,061 with 214 arrests. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service for this period was 1,840 and there were 225 arrests.

Dog at Large – Case 1711745

An animal welfare officer was called to the area regarding two pit bulls running eastbound on Ruskin. The AWO contacted a neighbor in the area and as they walked across the street, the two dogs came running from behind one of the homes and one of them began growling at the two men, then the two dogs took off running. The AWO followed the dogs back to their residence, which they had broken out of. The AWO contacted the owner, a 29-year-old woman who was cooperative. The dogs were not licensed, and had not been licensed since the last contact. The owner was cited for two counts of Dog at Large, and issued fix-it tickets for No Dog License.

Warrants – Case 1711776

An officer was sent to Walmart regarding a disorderly woman, later identified as

Keppa Elizabeth Pruett, age 48. Dispatch had advised she was swinging a cane and then got into an employee’s vehicle. The employee did not wish to press charges. Pruett had left the property and was contacted in a field nearby. She had warrants for Failure to Appear for Interfering with Public Transportation, Theft 3 and Theft 2. She was taken into custody on the warrants.

Harassment, Criminal Mischief 2, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 1711756

Officers were sent to a call where a woman, later identified as Tami Elizabeth Seely, age 40, had broken a screen on a window, slapped another individual, and was yelling in public. When they got there, they found Seely yelling on the front porch of a residence. She was taken into custody. An investigation found that Seely had been on a 71-year-old man’s front porch yelling, walking around and then sitting in his chair. He called 911 and Seely slapped him on the face, knocking the phone out of his hand. She was reported to have earlier been yelling in front of another apartment, occupied by a 54-year-old woman, and when told to stop by the resident, Seely kicked the screen of the woman’s apartment, running the blinds. Seely was reported to have been yelling and being confrontational in the neighborhood. Seely was charged with Harassment, Criminal Mischief 2, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass 2.

Harassment (Aggravated), Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 2 – Case 1711735

EPD’s Downtown focus units had a busy shift with one of most populated party scenes the commander said he had seen in years. His officers responded to report of a fight near The Davis Restaurant. One of the subjects was detained by security and the other involved man, later identified as Brian Adam Rogers, age 30, of Eugene, left the area. The other man was released and then officers saw Rogers in front of The Davis and he was approaching the man who had been released in an aggressive manner. Officers contacted Rogers and Rogers became combative and struggled with officers. Rogers was bloody from fighting with the other man and he spit directly into an officer’s face and attempted to do the same to another officer later. Officers transported Rogers to a hospital as he had a laceration from the fight with the other man. The trip to the hospital required numerous uniformed staff to stand by as Rogers was hobbled, handcuffed, and had a spit hood on. He was charged with Aggravated Harassment, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct 2.

DUII Felony, Driving While Suspended, Open Container, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device – Case 1711723

A sergeant stopped a Honda vehicle after he saw it weave in the lane, travel at a high rate of speed and fail to completely stop at a stop sign. When he contacted the driver, David Edward Garcia, age 34, of Eugene, he found that Garcia was suspended and also suspected intoxication. There were open containers of alcohol. After an investigation, Garcia was charged with DUII Felony, Driving While Suspended, Open Container, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device.

DUII/Disorderly Conduct/Criminal Trespass 2/Driving While Suspended – Case 1711714

A police officer was in the area and observed a white Buick LaSabre travel south through the parking lot of the Side Pocket Tavern in an area marked with No Trespass signs. The officer was stopped at a red light on W. 6th Avenue and Monroe, and observed the passenger, Anthony Darrell Boykin, age 48, of Eugene, exit the LaSabre and punch an employee who had attempted to contact the occupants of the vehicle. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted Boykin and the driver of the vehicle, Dakota Dale Stover, age 23, of Eugene. After further investigation, police arrested Stover for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, DUII and Driving While Suspended. Boykin was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1711688

A police officer traveling southbound on Patterson near E. 18th Avenue, on a two lane road designated for southbound traffic, observed a 2005 Dodge Magnum approaching from the northbound direction. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Marco A Arianogonzalez, age 23, of Eugene. After further investigation, Arianogonzalez was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII and Reckless Driving. He was also cited for Operating Without Driving Privileges.

Reckless Endangering/DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1711684

A police officer on patrol observed a sedan traveling without the headlights activated turn northbound onto Olive Street from W. 8th with both tires of the vehicle crossing over the double line into oncoming traffic. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, David Jonathan Dunlap, age 28, of Eugene, and observed two additional occupants in the vehicle. After further investigation, Dunlap was arrested for Reckless Endangering, DUII and Reckless Driving.


07/15/17 00:29, 1800 BLOCK OF OAK STREET

DUII/Hit and Run/ Reckless Driving – Case 1711683

Police responded to the area regarding a pickup truck that was traveling in the wrong direction on Oak Street, struck a parked vehicle, and continued southbound at a high rate of speed. Police located the described blue Dodge Dakota facing the wrong direction on 20th Avenue with significant front passenger side damage, and contacted, Guston Erasmo Duran, age 32, of Springfield, who was slumped toward the passenger side of the vehicle. Duran was transported by medics to the hospital for evaluation. Police also observed extensive damage to a silver Honda Accord on Oak Street, and after further investigation, arrested Duran for DUII, Hit and Run and Reckless Driving. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges. He was also cited for Driving Uninsured and Open Container.

Unlawful Possession Of Weapon/Disorderly Conduct 2 – Case 1711675

Police responded to the O Bar and Grill regarding an armed dispute and received information that the suspect left the scene after running up to a male victim, assaulted him on the ground and pointing a firearm at the victim. Police located the described suspect, Rober Kirk Lowenbirtsch, age 23, who was in the area of South Garden Way, north of Commons Drive, and contacted him regarding the incident. An EPD K9 unit responded to the area and located the involved firearm along the bike path. After further investigation, Lowenbirtsch was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.


On July 12, EPD responded to 313 calls for service and made 26 arrests. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 270, and the number of arrests was 19. Harassment/Criminal Mischief 1/Disorderly Conduct 2 – Case 1711548

Police responded to the area regarding multiple calls for a disorderly subject who was spitting at passing cars and had thrown his wheelchair into the street, obstructing traffic. When police arrived at the location, officers received information that the subject, Grant Kingsworth Brannaman, age 32, of Eugene, had been in a verbal dispute with another male subject who lives in the area, and pushed his wheelchair into a 2017  Subaru Forester that was leaving the 44-year-old victim’s residence. The dispute subsequently escalated and police received information that Brannaman punched the victim in the face and tore out the victim’s earring. Police contacted Brannaman at the location and arrested him for Harassment, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Unlawful Entry Motor Vehicle/Criminal Mischief 2/Possession of Burglary Tool or Theft Device – Case 1711497

Police responded to the area regarding a male subject who had removed items from a Ford Explorer after breaking the window of the vehicle. Police located the described suspect Robert Henry Mather Jr., age 50, of Eugene, and found information to arrest him for Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and Possession of Burglary Tool or Theft Device.


On July 11, EPD responded to 277 calls for service and made 29 arrests. DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1711473

Police responded to the area regarding a red Ford Mustang that crashed into a tree and observed the vehicle positioned on the sidewalk. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle, Brittany Ann Ross, age 25, of Springfield, and received information that she lost control of the vehicle, side swiped a parked car and struck a tree at the location. Police observed that there was an additional occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash, and after further investigation, Ross was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangering.

Felon In Possession of Restricted Weapon/Possession of Methamphetamine (Case 1711471) Criminal Mischief 3/Disorderly Conduct/Criminal Trespass 2 (1710703)

A police officer on patrol contacted Justin Ray Baker, age 32, of Eugene, after he was observed crossing the intersection of W. 10th Avenue and Olive Street northbound against the pedestrian control device, and identified Baker as the described suspect involved in a Criminal Mischief incident at the DS Market, 58 W. 11th Avenue, on June 29. The officer found information to arrest Baker for Felon In Possession of a Restricted Weapon (knife) and Possession of Methamphetamine. Baker was also contacted regarding the Criminal Mischief incident from June 29. Police received information that Baker had been previously trespassed from the DS Market and threatened an employee at the location, damaged a sign, and his aggressive behavior caused alarm to customers and other people in the area. He received additional charges for Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, and was transported to the Lane County Jail.

Assault/Criminal Mischief 2/Resisting Arrest/Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 1711434

Police responded to World Wide Granite LLC regarding a male subject who was inside the secured area of the business and refusing to leave. When police arrived, officers observed the subject, Alex Preston Dickson, age 26, of Roseburg, and escorted him outside the location and he attempted to run. He was apprehended and subsequently fought with officers, and damaged the glasses worn by the officer. Dickson continued to disregard direction from the officers to stop resisting and was eventually taken into custody with the use of a taser and was arrested for Assault, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Disorderly Conduct – Case 1711398

A police officer patrolling the area was flagged down by several people who directed the attention of the officer to a physical altercation in the Circle K parking lot. Police contacted the male and female subjects, Ira Ulyesses Bastian Jr., age 32, of Eugene, and Emily Suzanne Singleton, age 35, of Eugene, and received information that both had been yelling and causing a disturbance at the location prior to the altercation. They were both arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Disorderly Conduct.

Criminal Mischief 2/Disorderly Conduct – Case 1711349

Police responded to information of a dispute involving a male subject who was carrying a blunt wooden object, yelling, kicking boxes and making verbal threats. Police located the described subject, Jonathan Erich Bakke, age 37, of Eugene, with the wooden object in front of a residence with a broken window, and also observed a Nissan Maxima with a broken rear window in the driveway of the residence. Police received information that Bakke caused damage to the property and following contact with Bakke, he was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and Disorderly Conduct.


On July 9, EPD responded to 256 calls for service and made 22 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 297 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 30. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 227, and the number of arrests was 24. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on July 9 is 237, and the average number of arrests, 37. 

 

Last week (Sunday, July 2 – Saturday July 8) EPD responded to 2,080 calls for service and made 213 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last four weeks is 2,030 with 210 arrests. The number of calls for service during the same week last year was 2,045 with 193 arrests. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service for this period was 1,921 and there were 207 arrests.

DUII/Reckless Driving/Driving While Suspended – Case 1711327

Police responded to Jackson’s Market regarding a possible DUII driver of a Subaru Legacy who had backed into an occupied portable restroom before leaving the location. Police contacted the driver, Ryan Michael Brusher, age 25, of Gladstone, east of Ed Cone Boulevard on W. 11th Avenue, and after further investigation, arrested Brusher for DUII, Reckless Driving and Driving While Suspended. He was transported to the Lane County Jail.

Reckless Endangering/DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1711290

Police responded to the area regarding a possible DUII driver and observed the involved vehicle failing to maintain lanes and crossing over the striped lane dividers. Police contacted the driver, Andrea Joy Trujillo, age 35, of Springfield, and observed two occupants in the vehicle. After further investigation, she was arrested for DUII, two counts of Reckless Endangering and Reckless Driving. She was also cited for Driving Uninsured and Failure To Drive In Single Lane.

Reckless Endangering/DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1711281

A police officer was traveling southbound through the intersection of W. 7th Avenue and Olive Street and observed a white GMC SUV facing northbound swerve into the middle turn lane and then merged back without signaling, before briefly stopping at the intersection on a green light. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle, Nicole Marin Peckels, age 44, of Eugene, and observed one occupant in the vehicle. After further investigation, she was arrested for Reckless Endangering, DUII and Reckless Driving.

Burglary – Case 1711242

Police responded to a possible burglary in progress at an apartment on the 1500 block of Hilyard and observed the two described subjects near a storage shed. Police contacted the suspects, Sharon Nicole Lankford, age 28, of Eugene, and Robert Lewies Ballard, age 25, of Eugene, and received information that Lankford had been using the shed for a number of days, and she provided false information to officers regarding her identity. She was arrested for Burglary in the Second Degree, Possession of Methamphetamine, False Information To Police Officer and a Warrant. Following contact with Ballard, police found information to arrest him for Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of Methamphetamine and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.

Police received information of a male subject who stole electronic items from a 1995 Chevrolet 2500 pickup after he was observed breaking the rear window and entering the vehicle on June 27 at approximately 4:40 a.m. Police contacted the suspect, Michael Glenn Bailey, age 35, who was at the Lane County Jail on unrelated charges, and he received additional charges for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle and Theft in the First Degree.

Felon In Possession Restricted Weapon/Possession of Methamphetamine – Case 171118

Police contacted a male subject who was observed in possession of illegal drugs, and after further investigation, found a restricted weapon on his person (knife). Following contact with the subject, Travis James Tibbet, age 38, of Eugene, he was arrested for Felon In Possession of a Restricted Weapon and Possession of Methamphetamine.

DUII/Hit and Run/Reckless Driving/Driving While Suspended – Case 1711120

Police responded to the area regarding a hit and run non injury vehicle crash between Delta Highway and Coburg Road involving a possible DUII driver. Police received information that a silver 2006 Ford Taurus struck a black 2004 Mercedes Benz from behind causing damage to the left rear of the vehicle, and continued traveling east after failing to exchange information with the driver of the other vehicle. Another driver who was in the area was able to get the driver of the Taurus, Brian Daniel Gorham, age 46, of Eugene, to pull over until police arrived and contacted Gorham, who was slumped over in the driver’s seat, and observed significant front end damage to the front of his vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII, Reckless Driving, Hit and Run and Driving While Suspended.


On July 5, EPD responded to 308 calls for service and made 38 arrests. Delivery Methamphetamine – Case 1711112

A police officer observed a maroon 2001 Dodge Stratus traveling eastbound on W. 11Th Avenue with only one headlight operating and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and found that the driver, Rina Yesenia Zaragoza, age 36, of Eugene, had a warrant for arrest. After further investigation, police contacted the passenger and owner of the vehicle, Jesse Fabricio Bravo, age 18, of Eugene, and found information to arrest him for Delivery of Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine. Both subjects were transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Possession of Methamphetamine/Resisting Arrest/Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 171114

Police responded to a hotel at the location regarding trespassing and contacted a female subject who refused to leave the room where she had been staying after she was contacted by an employee regarding her behavior. The subject, Denise Austin, age 56, of Eugene, was eventually arrested for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and received additional charges for Resisting Arrest after she struggled and attempted to pull away from the officers, and Possession of Methamphetamine, which was found in her possession during the arrest. She was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Criminal Mischief 2 – Case 1711099/ Theft 3 – Case 1711115

Police responded to an apartment residence at the location regarding Criminal Mischief and received information that a former roommate damaged several personal items in the home, including furniture and kitchenware, and damaged several areas of the complex. Police located the suspect Katie Anne McQueen, age 30, after responding to a Theft at Safeway on July 6 at approximately 1:29 a.m. (Case 171115), and received information that she had stolen multiple items at the business. Following contact with McQueen she was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Theft in the Third Degree. She was also contacted regarding the incident at the apartment and received an additional charge for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.

DUII/Hit and Run/Reckless Driving – Case 1711015

Police responded to Hendrick’s Park regarding a vehicle crash and a driver who left the scene. When police arrived, they located the involved black 2002 Nissan Xterra with damage to the tires and front left of the vehicle, and received information that the Nissan struck the left fender of a gold Honda CRV, after a near head on collision, and was uncooperative with the driver of the Honda. The Nissan eventually pulled over in Hendrick’s Park and the driver was observed running from the vehicle. Police located the suspect driver, Sean Collin Murphy, age 49, who was at his residence on Spring Boulevard, and contacted him regarding the incident. After further investigation, he was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving and Hit and Run.

Possession of Methamphetamine/Felon In Possession Restricted Weapon/Possession Controlled Substance/Warrant – Case 1711062

Police patrolling the park along the south bank trail in the area of Owen’s Rose Garden and Maurie Jacobs Park contacted multiple subjects regarding illegal drugs, and found information to arrest Zachary Alvin Isley, age 37, of Eugene, for Felon In Possession Of A Restricted Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance and a warrant, and Lindsay Elizabeth Denton, age 23, of Eugene, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine. Both were transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1711037

Police responded to the area regarding a vehicle that crashed into a house and observed the involved black Hyundai Tiburon and driver at the location. Police contacted the driver, Thomas Weber Davis, age 45, of Eugene, and received information that  he lost control of the vehicle and struck the house. After further investigation, Davis was arrested for DUII and Reckless Driving.

Interfering With Police Officer/Criminal Trespass 2/Resisting Arrest – Case 1710976

A police officer patrolling the area observed a male subject trespassing at the location and attempted to contact the subject, Marquel Djuan Cary, age 19, of Eugene, who subsequently ran from the officer. Cary refused to stop for the officer and was eventually apprehended with the use of a taser in the area of W. 7th Avenue and Washington Street, and continued to disregard direction from police. Following contact with Cary, he was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Interfering With Police, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest.

Criminal Mischief 2/Hit and Run – Case 1711025

Police responded to the area regarding a motor vehicle that crashed into a fence in the front yard of a residence and damaged a street sign and shrubbery at the location. The damaged vehicle was observed leaving the scene and was located by police unoccupied in the area of Brittney Street and Brittania Place. Police eventually located and contacted the suspect, Ryan Dennis Diricco, age 26, who was at his residence on Kismet Way, and arrested him for Hit and Run, Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. He was transported to the Lane County Jail.

Assault 1 – Case 1710757

Police responded to a residence on the 1400 block of Jocobs Drive regarding a subject down from a gunshot wound that was found to be self-inflicted. Police contacted several people at the location, located the involved firearm, and received information that the injured subject, Daniel Alfred Brandt, age 65, who lives at the residence, had been in a dispute with people known to him at the location and fired multiple gunshots at the subjects before injuring himself. Brandt was transported to the hospital by medics and was contacted by police on July 4 and arrested for Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Possession of Heroin, Violation Park Rules, Warrants – Case 1710958

An officer found a Chevy pickup at the park after the park was closed for the night. He went to contact the driver Josiah James Kenworthy, age 25, of Springfield, and a female passenger, later identified as Erryn Christine King, age 21. King appeared intoxicated on a substance. Kenworthy had a suspended driver’s license and he was detained. King had warrants for Contempt of Court, and warrants for Failure to Appear on charges of Hit and Run, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, DUII, Reckless Driving, and Possession of Methamphetamine. King was taken into custody on the warrants and then found to be in possession of Heroin. She was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Heroin and warned for Violation of Park Rules. Josiah James Kenworthy, age 25, of Springfield, was charged with Violation of Park Rules.

Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Felon in Possession of Restricted Weapon – Case 1710376

A 43-year-old Eugene man found that his Chevy Avalanche was stolen from his driveway. Another of his vehicles, a Toyota Camry had been entered and the spare keys to the Avalanche stolen along with other items. An EPD community service officer responded to take a report and gather evidence. An EPD patrol officer followed up to investigate and he was able to develop further information and placed an attempt to locate for a suspect, Jessica Dawn Blanton, age 25, of Eugene. A different officer was sent to report of trespassers in the 1800 block of Echo Hollow on July 4 at 12:43 p.m. Blanton was contacted on the back porch of the residence, and was not associated with the trespass, but was found to have the ATL and two warrants. She was taken into custody. She was in possession of an expandable baton and is a convicted felon. She was charged with Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Felon In Possession of a Restricted Weapon. The vehicle was returned to the victim.

Burglary 1/Criminal Mischief 2 – Case 1710999

Police responded to the location regarding a male subject who had broken multiple windows and entered the residence. Police observed the damage at the location and contacted the male subject, Jordan Scott Gribi, age 29, of Eugene, as he was exiting the residence. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Burglary in the First Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.

Open Container, Warrant Arrest – Case 1710989

Two officers were patrolling in the downtown area and as they rode by WhiteBird Clinic, they saw a small group of people seated in the alley. One of the group, a woman was drinking from an open container and later cited. A man in the group drew the officers’ attention as he was wearing a bright yellow, rubber chicken mask. The officer who was citing the woman thought he recognized the man in the mask as Nathan John Field, age 22, who had a warrant for his arrest. The other officer noted the same thing. The officers contacted Field and verified it was he. Field was taken into custody on the warrant.

Harassment, Disorderly Conduct – Case 1710978

An officer was sent to a report of a man, later identified as Darryl Christopher Ram, age 64, of Eugene, who had assaulted his neighbor, a 65-year-old man. There had been a verbal dispute between the two the day before on the victim’s property. Ram is reported to have retrieved a large knife and continued westward to be on the victim’s property. Then on July 4, hit the victim’s front door and when the victim opened it, began grabbing the victim in an attempt to fight. Ram left after pushing a shoving the victim. Officers in the area were able to locate Ram and he was taken into custody and charged with Harassment and Disorderly Conduct.
