Case No. 13-20944
At around 10:10 last night, a caller reported seeing a suspicious male and female in a car parked in front of the Ivy Market in a black Ford Explorer. The male was armed with a handgun and made a gesture with his other hand like he was shooting the caller. The caller was concerned they were getting ready to rob the market.
An officer quickly responded, located the vehicle, but found the occupants didn’t wish to stick around and talk. A pursuit ensued, heading out of town on Roosevelt.
At one point, around 10:15 p.m., the vehicle went into oncoming traffic on Roosevelt, endangering at least one motorist, who police would like to contact as a witness to the reckless endangering. This victim motorist is asked to contact Officer Robert Rosales (541.968.5609).
The suspects made it to Royal and N. Terry where the vehicle was forcibly stopped by the officer, bringing the vehicle pursuit to an end. The female passenger, Tammy Tobiason, age 43, was captured at the scene but the driver, Jeffery Dean Zimmerman, age 40, fled on foot. The initial responding officer and a second officer gave chase and took Zimmerman into custody a few hundred yards away with the help of a taser and some blackberry bushes.
Police located two realistic pellet guns and holsters in the suspects’ vehicle. Zimmerman continued to be uncooperative. He was charged with Eluding by Vehicle, Eluding by Foot, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, Resisting Arrest, Coercion, and Interfering with Police. The female, Tammy Tobiason, age 43, was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
