The Eugene Police Department provides an online police reporting option for the public. Online reporting allows citizens to conveniently file crime reports on frequently occurring types of property crime that are committed in Eugene. This removes the delay often associated with initially taking the information and then having to wait for re-contact by a community service officer or police officer hours or days later. It allows more time for staff and officers to focus on other field duties and improve upon the services provided to the community by the Eugene Police Department.
This web based reporting system allows the public to file certain incident types (Bike thefts, vandalism, graffiti, fraud, hit and run and quality of life issues) over the internet at their convenience. There are also two tip lines (one a general tip line and one a drug tip line). For users without internet access, the system can be accessed by a link available at the public use computer at the Eugene Public Library.

The service will allow the public to file a report at a time that is best for them without having to wait for an officer to respond or call them back. The user will be able to print a temporary copy of the report upon submitting the report. The report will be reviewed by police personnel and once approved the filing person will receive an email with a copy of the report attached without cost.
The report transfers into the EPD records management system and receives the same investigation and statistical analysis ability as if the report had been filed by a police officer. This web based reporting option allows officers more time to address community needs while keeping pace with the public expectancy to complete services via the internet. EPD uses the Desk Officer Online Reporting System from San Ramon, California based software company Coplogic, Inc (www.Coplogic.com).
