[ARCHIVED] The 12th Annual We Are Bethel Celebration is June 1

Event Poster

The science-themed Celebration of the Bethel neighborhood will feature several crazy science contraptions, including a yoga ball xylophone (played with wrenches), a PVC pipe organ (played with flip-flops); a Marble Maze Rube Goldberg apparatus, and a Kinetic sculpture.

Ask a question of the Fortune-O-Matic and see what the future holds for you. And don’t miss the Mad Science Lab where you’ll see citrus batteries; quicksand; gravity-free water; and balloons inflated with CO2. Then, feel what it’s like to be inside a bubble in the Big Bubble Room.

There will be lots of music, as always, with headliner “Taste” and several local youth bands including the Cascade Middle School Choir, Shasta Jazz Band, Meadow View Jazz Band, SERENATA local Latin Folk band and ACTSO performances. Watch for the rocket launches between each performance.

And don’t forget the Kids Carnival. There will be a dozen games, inflatables and a dunk tank. Tickets are just 25¢. This year’s Milk Toast to a Community Leader goes to Chris Ferguson, former teacher at Cascade Middle School and Fairfield Elementary, he now volunteers delivering fresh fruits and vegetables to the families of Cascade Middle School. Be sure to visit the art gallery displaying art from local schools and Pete Barn art classes, and then peruse the 28 community booths at the event.

The We Are Bethel Celebration will be held at Petersen Barn Park, 870 Berntzen Rd., from noon-6 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. For more information, call 541-682-5521.
