Public Meeting: Rental Housing Cost Burden in Eugene
The City of Eugene invites you to a public meeting with the Eugene Planning Commission on the topics of Affordable Housing and Severe Rent Burden.
When: Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Where: Virtual Meeting (see details below)
Why: Under Oregon State Law, communities with high percentages of households with “severe rent burden,” meaning households that pay more than 50% of their income for rental housing costs, must hold a public meeting each year. Eugene has been identified as a Severely Rent Burdened community since House Bill 4006 went into effect in 2018.
During the public meeting, staff will present information on causes and consequences of severe rent burden, barriers to reducing rent burden, and possible solutions in Eugene. The Eugene Planning Commission will receive an update on notable and upcoming projects and planning efforts to address rent burden.
