[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested for DUII/Arson/Hit & Run

Police were called to Village Avenue Apartments after a woman reported glass breaking at her residence. It was reported that 28-year-old Matthew Scott Devinney of Eugene, had thrown material through a window into a room and it was burning on the floor. Residents were able to put the fire out and exit. They found Devinney walking calmly away from the broken window.

Upon leaving the location, Devinney, who was intoxicated, was reported to have struck a parked vehicle with his rental car then drove it to his downtown apartment where he crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot. Police contacted him at his apartment and took him into custody without further incident.

Devinney was lodged Lane County Jail for Arson in the First Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Destructive Device, Unlawful Manufacture of a Destructive Device, two counts of Reckless Endangering, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, two counts of Hit & Run, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (MDMA), and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. ###
