[ARCHIVED] Shots Fired at Walmart, Suspect in Custody

Eugene Police responded to calls about a man shooting off rounds into the air at the Walmart parking lot, 1040 Greenacres. Walmart employees reported Abdon had discharged his handgun numerous times at the streetlights behind Walmart, and the employees quickly put the store on lockdown, while Eugene Police responded. Abdon was last seen fleeing into the wooded area to the east of the store, prior to the arrival of officers.

Eugene Police officers converged on the area and a K-9 team was sent to search for the suspect. The team located Abdon quickly and he surrendered without further incident.

Abdon was armed with a handgun, several full magazines, and had extra ammunition. Abdon may have been suffering a mental condition and been under the influence of methamphetamine. He was charged with seven counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Reckless Endangering, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of Methamphetamine.###
