[ARCHIVED] Eugene Springfield Fire Responding to Moon Mountain Fire

EVACUATION STATUS: 

Zone 32 is a Level 1 Evacuation Order – Get ready to evacuate

  • Eight houses on Snowberry Road have been evacuated. The fire is slowly moving that direction (roughly 500 feet away from the houses). Eugene Springfield Fire has crews in place to protect the homes. 
  • The fire is rapidly moving in the direction of Bloomberg Road and Mcvey Highway.


FIRE INFORMATION - UPDATED 9:30 P.M., JULY 3, 2023

At 6:02 p.m., July 3, a fire was reported on Moon Mountain (Rockrose Lane and Woodfern Lane). Eugene Springfield Fire is on scene with multiple fire service agencies across Lane County. The fire is in steep terrain and is approximately 40 acres. Homes have been evacuated  on Snowberry, Rockrose and Cascara. Please avoid the area to allow emergency vehicles access. Eugene Police is also on scene for traffic direction and with the Drone Team. 

 

Additional resources, including the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and multiple agencies from all local area fire departments are also on scene. The fire will be an extended operation. ODF will bring in resources to maintain the fire tonight and will take on incident command later this evening. 

 

This is a Eugene parks area. 

 

Nearby residents should expect to see smoke and fire throughout the night while agencies work to contain the fire.
