[ARCHIVED] Off Duty Officer Spots Stolen Vehicle - Two Arrested

At about 12:33 p.m., Sunday, March 31, an alert off-duty EPD officer spotted a vehicle he recalled as being reported stolen. He called it in to dispatch, and several EPD officers saturated the area. By the time the vehicle stopped, it was in Springfield and stopped at a lot in the 500 block of International Way.

Officers detained driver Tyler James Gardner, 29, of Eugene, and Tiffany Honochick, 22, of Eugene.

Officers learned that Gardner and Honochick stole the vehicle during a residential burglary, and used it to return to the home a second time to steal more items. At this time officers are still investigating to determine the extent of loss to the victim.

Both suspects are on current Probation for Burglary.

Gardner was lodged at the Lane County Jail at 4:00 p.m. on March 31, on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and cited for Driving While Suspended. He was released on March 31 at 7:01 p.m.

Honochick was lodged at the Lane County Jail at 3:11 p.m. on March 31, on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Possession of Heroin, and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. She was released on March 31 at 7:01 p.m.
