[ARCHIVED] Correction: Pedestrian-Vehicle Creash 03-27-2013

Correction: The bicyclist was travelling southbound on Chambers in the northbound lanes; the white Dodge was westbound on 5th attempting to turn northbound on Chambers.
The bicyclist is a 25-year-old male. The vehicle was driven by a 44-year-old male. Both are from Eugene.

Police are seeking witnesses to pedestrian-vehicle crash at
W 5th Ave. & Chambers
Case No. 13-05734
Police are seeking witness information about a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist that occurred at W. 5th Avenue and Chambers Street shortly after 2:15 p.m. today. According to preliminary information, the bicyclist was travelling in the wrong direction, southbound on W. 5th and the vehicle was northbound on Chambers Street when the collision occurred. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. No names are being released at this time.
The vehicle is a white Dodge Intrepid. The bike is a green mountain bike.

One lane on each side of the road is open, but to avoid congestion, travelers are advised to avoid the area. EPD’s Major Collision Investigation team is on scene investigating.
