As 2022 comes to an end, we hope you celebrate the New Year safely with family and friends – and without fireworks.
The Eugene City Council voted 6-2 to ban the sale and use of personal fireworks within city limits during its September 26, 2022 meeting and the ban went into effect on October 29, 2022. It is illegal to sell, use, light, detonate or display any consumer fireworks anywhere in the city at any time (Council ordinance #20674). Examples include sparklers, fountains, ground spinners and smoke devices.
The penalty for violating the ordinance is a maximum penalty of a $500 fine. To report the use of fireworks, please download the Fireworks Reporting app, available for iPhone and Android users.
For more information on the fireworks ban, an FAQ is posted on the City of Eugene website
