In an effort to promote reusable shopping bags and reduce litter, the City of Eugene will implement a ban on single-use plastic carryout bags in all retail establishments within city limits beginning May 1, 2013.

Beginning in April, the Bring Your Bag public education and awareness campaign will work to raise awareness about bringing reusable bags, help business understand the new rules, and connect residents with resources for free and reduced price reusable bags.

Two information sessions for retailers will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013. The sessions will be an opportunity for business owners to learn about the new ordinance and have their questions answered.

Noon Session:
• Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 12-1pm
• Oregon Community Credit Union, 2880 Chad Drive (on the EAST side of CostCo)
Evening Session
• Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 5:30-7pm
• Bascom Room, Eugene Public Library, 100 West 10th Avenue (1st Floor)

More information is available on the City’s website, www.eugene-or.gov/plasticbags, or by calling 541-682-5652.
