[ARCHIVED] 2nd Annual Virtual Fire Prevention Week October 9 - 15

Eugene Springfield Fire logo

In an effort to make fire safety educational resources more accessible to the community, Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) has developed its second annual virtual Fire Prevention Week. Fire Prevention Week celebrates 100 years this year and has been sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association since 1922, making it the longest-running public health observance in the United States. It is held each year during the week of October 9th in honor of the Great Chicago Fire. Eugene Springfield Fire will send example lesson plans and online resources directly to local school districts and will make this information available on the ESF website for at-home educators and caregivers.

Eugene Springfield Fire’s virtual Fire Prevention Week will have educational videos and materials covering this year’s theme, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape.” There will also be engaging activities like home fire safety planning, music videos, and coloring and activity sheets.
