The Eugene City Council will meet in a Special Meeting on Wednesday, October 5, at noon to review options to fill the Ward 7 council position. The position is vacant, as of October 3, 2022 following the Lane County Elections certification of a successful recall election for City Councilor Claire Syrett.
The City Council will meet to determine the appointment process. As required by the Eugene Charter, Section 24, the City Council is required to fill the interim position within 90 days or before January 1, 2023. The person appointed will serve until a successor, duly elected in May 2023, takes office in July 2023.
This special meeting of the Eugene City Council will be available for community members to watch live or later on the City’s website or on Metro Television, Comcast channel 21.
