[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested After Firearm Incident

Case No. 13-04862
At 12:24 p.m. today (March 13, 2013), police responded to an armed subject call in the 2000 block of S. Bertelsen Road. When they arrived, they observed the suspect sitting in a chair and he appeared to be loading a rifle and had pointed it at neighbors’ yards.

As a safety precaution, two local schools were put on lockdown status and police closed the road near the area. An armored vehicle was brought to the scene and an EPD Crisis Team Negotiator contacted the residents in the home. Three people were detained and one, the armed subject, was eventually arrested.

Charges:
Alan James Ryan, 26, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, two counts of Reckless Endangering, and Cited in Lieu of Custody for Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. The firearm was found to be a pellet gun, which is defined by City Code as a firearm.

City Code
