The first round of voting will last 48 hours and narrow the field to the Elite Eight. Those eight cities will continue on into the next round of voting. More information on the conference and the competition is available at http://us.sometourism.com/somet13us-voting-details.
According to a recent article in the Register Guard, “The symposium is expected to attract more than 250 social media users from destination marketing organizations, hotels, resorts, attractions and other tourism-related entities, according to Travel Lane County. The agency estimates landing the conference would have an economic impact of $200,000 in direct spending alone, not counting the potential value of social media exposure and future bookings that could result from the conference.”
