[ARCHIVED] Suspect in Stolen Vehicle Apprehended

On March 3, at around 5:45 a.m., Eugene Police received report of a suspicious subject at a commercial business in the 1000 block of Bailey Hill Road. The suspect was occupying a vehicle that was determined to have been stolen, and had been observed going through other vehicles. 

 

Eugene Police officers responded and the suspect, later identified as Paul Eldred Dyess, age 48, was inside the stolen vehicle in the 1000 block of Bailey Hill Road. Officers arrived and ordered Dyess out of the vehicle and there was no response. The vehicle had dark tinted window. Due to there being no response and with limited visibility, officers broke the windows and then issued additional commands. Dyess was taken into custody with out incident. The vehicle was full of property and an investigation is ongoing into ownership of the contents. Along with Patrol resources, community service officers and Evidence Control Unit staff responded to help process the vehicle and property. 

 

Dyess was lodged at Lane County Jail on charges of Unlawful Entry Motor Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Vehicle.
