Today at approximately 7:31 a.m., police responded to disorderly subject call near the Econo Lodge on W 7th Avenue after receiving information that the man displayed aggressive behavior toward a person at the hotel. Police identified the suspect, Andrew Troy Taylor, age 37, of Eugene, and attempted to contact him regarding multiple violations of a restraining orders. Police contacted Taylor in a vehicle near 7th and Tyler.
Crisis Negotiation, SWAT and medics responded to the location and were on scene for several hours attempting to safely take Taylor into custody after barricading himself in the vehicle. He was eventually arrested and taken into custody without incident. He was lodged on charges of Violation Restraining Order, Harassment and Interfering With Police.
Under Oregon law, police are required to arrest a person who is in violation of a restraining order.
