[ARCHIVED] Three Men Arrested for Disorderly Conduct at Protest

Eugene Police Headquarters Sign

A protest began around 11:13 a.m. today, January 9, at the Federal Courthouse. Counter-protestors were also in the area. At around 12:40 p.m. there was a six-person fight with sticks in the middle of  8th and Mill. A crowd of approximately 70 people was rushing toward the fight and officers. There was an Unlawful Assembly Announcement (language, below) at 12:41 p.m. asking people to disperse to the east. This was done because it was a dangerous situation for officers and bystanders. The declaration was made, people complied, and officers were able to get control of the situation. No tear gas, chemical munitions or force was needed. The situation was resolved without that and two people were taken into custody at 12:45 p.m. Another man was taken into custody at 2:24 p.m.

Arrested:

Trenton Jon Bruegger, age 29, was taken into custody at 12:45 p.m. for Disorderly Conduct

John Saunders, age 33, was taken into custody at 12:45 p.m. for Disorderly Conduct

Richard Dwayne Elce, was taken into custody at 2:24 p.m. for Disorderly Conduct and warrants out of Springfield Police Department
