[ARCHIVED] Virtual State of the City Event Set for January 6

The 2021 State of the City will take place virtually at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6. Mayor Lucy Vinis will deliver her State of the City speech reflecting on 2020 and looking forward to the coming year. Entertainment will include performances by the married duo of Shelley James and Callan Coleman. 


The program will include the administration of Oaths of Office to the Mayor and returning Councilors and the swearing-in of two new City Councilors. There will also be a recognition of two outgoing councilors: Betty Taylor of Ward 2, Eugene’s longest serving councilor who has completed 24 years of service, and Chris Pryor of Ward 8, who has completed 16 years of service. 


Mayor Vinis will present awards recognizing local organizations for the work they have done in our community, and will announce the winner of the 2021 Bold Steps Award. This year’s finalists are Summit BankPakTech, and Marley’s Monsters


The event is free and will include closed captioning. Information to watch via Zoom will be available on our Public Webcasts page, and the event will be streamed live via YouTube.
