[ARCHIVED] Vehicle Owner Chases Suspect, Shots Fired

EPD Patrol Vehicle

Eugene Police Patrol officers responded to report of a road rage incident at 10:41 a.m. in the 3700 block of W. 11th Avenue. A Nissan X-terra was stolen from a business and the victim was trying to chase it down in one of his other vehicle, a red truck. The victim chased it to the north end of Obie and was right on the suspect’s tail when the suspect hit a dead end. The suspect tried to turn out of the dead end and the victim tried to pin the Xterra in with his truck to prevent it leaving.

The victim reported the Xterra stopped and that he got out and challenged the suspect, who produced a handgun. The victim reports he fired the firearm he had and the suspect took off in the Xterra. The suspect later left the Xterra by the Hampton Inn in the 3700 block of W. 11th and then he went into the Hampton Inn. The suspect was not wearing a mask and the employees confronted him and demanded he leave because he was not complying. Also, he was acting in a suspicious manner and employees saw police in the area, so they called it in.

An Oregon State Police trooper had responded to the call to assist and he and an EPD sergeant found the suspect near Umpqua Bank, close to W. 11th and Bailey Hill. The suspect was later identified as Trevor James Hudson, age 32. Hudson was arrested for Robbery in the First Degree, Unauthorized Use Vehicle, Unlawful Use Weapon. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
