On October 19, 2020, Lane Electric Co-op had a highly-modified Polaris Ranger UTV stolen from their facility. This UTV was valued at more than $27,000. Recently, a Eugene Police Property Crimes Unit detective received information about the possible location of the stolen UTV. The detective followed up on the information over the course of several days and was able to gather enough information to obtain a search warrant. On December 7, 2020, EPD Property Crimes Unit detectives, with the assistance of the Eugene Police SWAT, EPD Drone Team, and K-9 teams, served a search warrant at the residence of Robert Michael Cross, age 52, in the 1200 block of 30th Street in Springfield.
While serving the search warrant, detectives recovered Lane Electric’s stolen Polaris Ranger, along with a recently stolen Interstate Cargo trailer and a $14,000 commercial wood splitter. Additionally, detectives located three shotguns, four handguns, six rifles, and a gun silencer. Detectives also located approximately a quarter pound of methamphetamine and additional items to support a commercial drug delivery case. Cross was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the following charges: 13 counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, one count of Possess Machine Gun/Short Barrel/Silencer, and one count of Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine. Additional charges related to the recovered stolen items are expected.
