[ARCHIVED] K9 Capture - Unauthorized Use Vehicle Arrest

On December 2 at 3:44 a.m., Eugene Police officers were called to the 3400 block of McKenna Driver after a man was reported to be trying to steal a truck from an apartment parking lot. The owner advised the man had gotten into his truck and the rear taillights were activated. Subsequently the man was reported to have exited the truck and was walking through the apartment complex. As officers were approaching the area, the suspect, later identified as Steven Ronald Fischer, age 20, fled the area and hid when he heard police.


Officer Owen Griffith and K9 Cwyk (pronounced Quick) arrived and began to search. They quickly located Fischer hiding nearby.  After an investigation Fischer was found to be in possession of a restricted knife, shaved keys, LSD and Methamphetamine. He was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance-Felony, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine-Felony, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of Burglary Tools or Theft Device.
