Man Arrested for Kidnapping, Sex Abuse - Additional Potential Victims Sought


On November 22 at 2:49 p.m. Eugene Police Patrol officers responded to The Village Inn, 1875 Mohawk, where Springfield Police officers were already on scene of a kidnapping report. The suspect, Phillip Michael Robbennolt-O`Connell, age 55, is reported to have kidnapped an adult woman in her 40s by threatening to shoot her as she waited at a bus stop near W 1st Avenue and Jefferson Street. The victim was forced into the vehicle. Robbennolt-O’Connell is reported to have driven onto I-105 and then Robbennolt-O`Connell took eastbound I-105, where he lost control of the vehicle and crashed off the roadway. 


When the vehicle came to a stop, Robbennolt-O`Connell got out of the vehicle and the victim took the opportunity to flee, running to The Village Inn nearby, where staff called police. Robbennolt-O`Connell was found nearby walking away from the vehicle and contacted by Springfield Police. Eugene Police Violent Crimes detectives were called to the scene and began investigating. Robbennolt-O’Connell is being charged with Sex Abuse in the First Degree and Attempted Sodomy in addition to Kidnapping with the Intent to Rape. The investigation is continuing and due to the nature of the crime, EPD VCU detectives are seeking any other potential victims who may have had any similar incidences. 

The vehicle associated with Robbennolt-O’Connell is a white 1999 Subaru Legacy.
