[ARCHIVED] Eugene Police Detectives and Special Investigations Unit Respond To Investigate Defaced Mural

Eugene Police Headquarters Sign

This morning, the Eugene Police Department was made aware the mural at West 7th Alley and Willamette Street was damaged overnight.  The notification came to the department from a Facebook Post showing the damage and forwarded to us for our information.  Upon receiving this information, and prior to receiving a complaint regarding the damage, detectives from the Special Investigations Unit responded to conduct an investigation.  The investigation is ongoing.

“We are aware there has been heightened emotions surrounding the imagery depicted on the mural, regardless, the defacing of the mural is a crime and only serves to further divide this community at a time when we need to be coming together.” - Chief Chris Skinner.
