Fifth K9 Capture in Just More than a Week

Officer Michael Casey and K9 Marco

A officer working patrol at 11:37 a.m. on August 31 spotted a man, later identified as Jeremy Brian Bond, age 40, on a bicycle crossing Roosevelt Boulevard diagonally (from north to south) across four traffic lanes near Iowa Street. The officer performed a traffic stop and Bond stopped his bicycle on the sidewalk, but remained seated. As the officer stepped out of his patrol vehicle, Bond fled with the officer chasing on foot. Bond ignored the officer’s commands, riding into oncoming traffic southbound on North Seneca, causing several motorists to stop abruptly to prevent crashing into him. Traffic flow was heavy at the tie.

The officer got back in his patrol vehicle and continued to look. Meanwhile, EPD K-9 Team Officer Mike Casey heard the request for help from the officer and responded along with other officers. One officer located Bond’s distinctive bicycle in a thick forested area near West 34d Avenue and Wallis Street. Officer Casey and K9 Marco went to work on this and located Bond in a rough tent structure. Bond had a confirmed warrant for his arrest out of the Oregon State Parole Board. He was taken into custody and charged with Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, Interfering with Police, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and the warrant. Case 20-14436

This was the fifth K9 capture in just over a week by three different EPD K9 teams.
