Eugene Police Investigations is seeking the public’s help identifying a female suspect in multiple purse thefts from local grocery stores, including Trader Joes, 85 Oakway Center. Video Surveillance photos are attached.


For almost a year, EPD Property Crimes Unit detectives have been investigating the purse thefts. Immediately following each theft, the suspect traveled to several stores in the Eugene/Springfield area and used the stolen debit/credit cards to purchase merchandise and gift cards. The total amount of the fraudulent credit card transactions has been several thousands of dollars.


Most victims recall a female approaching and distracting them away from their shopping carts while the female or another suspect steals their purse. The suspect has been described as a dark-haired female, 20-30 years old, and approximately 5’3 to 5’5 tall.
