On June 17, around 7:52 p.m., Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit was in the area of Motel 6, 3690 Glenwood Drive, near Interstate 5, conducting follow up on an unrelated robbery case when they located an occupied stolen vehicle with a known suspect, Melthi, Mohammad, age 24, of Eugene. Melthi was known to have multiple felony warrants by Eugene Police to include Assault in the Fourth Degree APA (x2), violation of a restraining order (x2), Burglary in the First Degree, Theft of a Firearm, Theft, and Unlawful Use of a Vehicle. A perimeter was quickly established in the area. EPD Drone team also responded to assist officers on scene with search for the suspect. The search lasted more than 2.5 hours before the K9 and Drone team located the suspect hidden at an area to the SE of the Motel. Melthi was taken into custody by K9 and the search team, and the CENS was later retracted.

Mohammad was transported to the hospital for evaluation, and later lodged at the Lane County Jail on two counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree (APA), two counts Violation Restraining Order, Burglary in the First Degree, Theft of a Firearm, Theft, Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, and Interfering and Escape in the Third Degree.
