[ARCHIVED] Wanted Suspect Suicide on Hwy. 99

Last night at approximately 10:23 p.m., Eugene Police units assisting Junction City Police in a search for a wanted suspect, Victor Burgoyne, age 44, located him in the N. Danebo area. Patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop, and a pursuit ensued.

Lane County Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips near Hwy. 99 and Beltline. Burgoyne stopped the vehicle in the middle of the roadway a short distance away and shot himself while officers were still just arriving in their vehicles. The vehicle veered off the roadway and came to a stop in the area of Hwy 99N and McDougal Street.

Burgoyne was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. He was later declared deceased.
