The Best Things We've Seen This Week - Vol. 5

week 5 360x280

Welcome to The Best Things We’ve Seen This Week – Vol. 5. We are more than a month into Governor Kate Brown’s Stay at Home, Save Lives order. Hopefully this means you are settling into a rhythm and finding ways to stay healthy and work on your emotional wellbeing. This week, Mayor Lucy Vinis also asked us to think of ways we can still help our community.

We want this space to be a place where we can share thinks we think people will like, provide tips for getting through your days at home or to just put a smile on your face. But the underlying reason why we are all home right now can’t be forgotten, so our first link every week is to a resources page on the City of Eugene website where you can find the latest information on what the City is doing, key resources and related information.

And now, enjoy this cathartic video from our friends at Travel Lane County. You gotta’ Love Lane.

Roundup

  • Eugene Rec is adding even more content for people to do at home. Check out this YouTube channel that has seven fitness and wellness videos on it. The channel should be updated throughout the week with even more good stuff. Remember for now, Stay Home and Recreate!
  • Eugene Rec Athletics is continuing to also get in on the stay-at-home action. It recently unveiled a fitness challenge, this week it announced a trick shot competition and a new FIFA esports tournament! Too bad it wasn’t Sonic.
  • Cultural Services’ National Dance Week is going digital this year. Posts from local artists will start going up on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram starting Saturday, April 18 and run through April 24.
  • This local man has an accordion and a mission.
  • Travel Oregon compiled a list of cookbooks from Oregon authors. It’s a who’s-who of great dining in the state.
  • Looking for inspiration for home adventures for your kids? Outside Magazine has you covered.
  • The Grand Canyon is closed right now. But you can still raft it virtually.
  • With film festivals closing for the year, lots of them are posting their videos online. Here’s a list of places to find new adventure films to watch this weekend.
  • Missing baseball? The Taiwanese professional baseball league is streaming games on Twitter.

Let’s head into the weekend with a smile

And one more thing...

Here it is, your Oregon moment of zen.

Have a good weekend everyone.
