Eugene Police Downtown Team officers have been diligently patrolling their downtown beat and arrested three adults in three separate incidents in the first few days this week.
On May 17 at 8:58 a.m., EPD DT officers were sent to 750 Oak Street, where a man later identified as Patrick Manning Wigginton, age 40, was reported to be screaming at people in the Butterfly parking lot. Officers located Wiggington, who was also reported to have been looking into the windows of vehicles. One of the vehicle’s owners confronted Wigginton when he observed him begin to reach into the back of his truck. After he was confronted, Wigginton began to follow the victim and threaten him. After further investigation Wiggington was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree. Case 20-8153
On May 18 at 7:45 a.m., an EPD DT officer was inside the Downtown Public Safety Station, 960 Olive, when he heard a man screaming and cursing. He went to investigate the source of the yelling. He located a man later identified as Spencer Lee Johnson, age 38, in front of a business at 941 Olive Street. Johnson was cited in lieu of custody for Disorderly Conduct. 20-08209
On May 18 at 10:09 a.m., a man near McDonald Theatre, 1010 Willamette, was reported to have taken a glass jar off a restaurant’s take-out serving table and smashed it on the sidewalk before stepping into traffic and yelling. This occurred in front of a group of adults and young children who had volunteered to help City of Eugene Facilities crew plant the flower planters in the downtown core that day. An EPD Downtown Team officer located the suspect, Alonzo Leon Riley, age 24, and detained him. After an investigation, Riley was cited in lieu of custody for Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree. 20-08221
