At 5:03 a.m. on May 9, Eugene Police officers and a K9 Unit were dispatched to 29548 Airport Road regarding a burglary in progress at Glory Bee warehouse.
Multiple patrol units responded and an officer, who was near a broken window while others searched inside, heard a noise and challenged the suspect, who was inside. The suspect, Waylon Anthony Welch, age 44, was compliant, however he couldn’t exit through the door, as he had barricaded himself using officer furniture. The officer was able to coax Welch out the window. Welch was arrested on a charge of Burglary in the Second Degree.
The subsequent search of the warehouse took over an hour due to the building’s size. No one else was found inside. Case 2007678
