Update: Current Library Services

Masks are currently required indoors statewide for everyone age 5 and older, regardless of vaccination status.

GETTING OR RENEWING A LIBRARY CARD

To sign up for a library card, call us at 541-682-5450 or visit any library location. Library cards are free for residents of the City of Eugene and for all students in Eugene 4J and Bethel school districts. More information about getting or renewing a library card.

ONLINE SERVICES

Online items including ebooks, audiobooks, streaming movies and shows, music, and magazines for all ages are available free with a library card. Start here.

Our  website also offers online services including LinkedIn Learning tutorials, Ancestry.com, Consumer Reports, Mango Languages lessons, and BrainFuse live tutors free with a library card. Start here.

VISITING IN PERSON

The Downtown Library, Bethel Branch, and Sheldon Branch all offer in-person staff assistance, browsing, holds pickup, Internet computers, and wifi and device charging.  A few services, including rental meeting rooms and the Maker Hub, are not yet available. Masks are currently required indoors statewide for everyone age 5 and older, regardless of vaccination status.

BORROWING PHYSICAL ITEMS


Browsing

Browsing and checkout are now available at all library locations.


Place holds to pick up

Place requests for items online or by phone, then wait to receive a notice that your item is ready. Holds pick-up is indoors at all locations, with no appointment needed. Bring your library card and/or the library cards of anyone you are picking up items for.  If you no longer want an item, please call to let us know so that others can borrow it. No reshelving fines will be charged.


Vulnerable individuals may choose to make an appointment for curbside pick up, at the Downtown Library. Wait to receive a notice that your item is ready, then schedule an appointment by calling 541-682-5450 (press 1).

RETURNING ITEMS


Outside return slot hours

Downtown Library:  every day, 5am-10pm

Bethel and Sheldon: every day, 24 hours


Due dates

To check the due date for a particular item, view your online account or contact us.


Fines 

Our library does not charge late fines for children’s and teen items. If you are concerned about fines, please contact us so we can assist you.

COMPUTERS AND WIFI

All locations of Eugene Public Library offer internet computers for one hour per person per day. Additionally, the Downtown Library offers adaptive technology computers.  Wifi is available inside and outside all locations. Outlets to charge your own devices are available within current capacity limits. 

All of these services are free with no library card needed.  


To use a computer:  reserve a session for the same or next day. Reserve a computer online with your library card; or by phone or in person (no library card needed). Walk-in sessions may be available. 


Print from our internet computers or email or upload from your own device. Prints are 10 cents per side for black and white; 50 cents per side for color.

Outside Return Slots 

Downtown Library return slots: every day, 5am-10pm. 

Bethel and Sheldon return slots: every day, 24 hours. 

All return slots are closed on City holidays, starting at closing time the night before. 

Borrowed items may be returned to any Eugene Public Library location. 


Parking 

Downtown Library parking garage hours: M-Th, 10am–8pm; F-Su, 10am–6pm. Free after 6pm and on weekends. 

Bethel and Sheldon: parking lots are always open and free of charge.
