On February 19, around 10:40 a.m., officers stopped a pickup truck in the 100 block of Swain Lane. One of the men ran from the officer. The suspect, Nathan Eugene Shirley, age 28, of Eugene, continued to run toward the residence after being given direction from the officer to stop. The owners were away from the residence at the time and welcomed the help from Eugene Police in locating and arresting anyone who may be trespassing on their property.

Officer Michael Casey and his partner K9 Marco responded to the scene and located Shirley, who was hiding in a crawl space underneath the residence. Officer’s on scene were grateful for Marco’s help. Given the area he was hidden, it is unlikely Shirley would have been found without Marco’s help. Following contact with police, Shirley was cited in lieu of custody for Interfering With Police and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.
