With the goal of creating safer streets, the City of Eugene wants to know what you think about a proposal to put speed cushions on portions of Jefferson Street. The project area is Jefferson Street, between 13th and 28th avenues.
“The intent of the project is to address people speeding and improve safety,” said Chris Henry, Transportation Planning Engineer. “We identified Jefferson Street as a Vision Zero corridor – which is the goal to eliminate deadly and life-threatening crashes on our transportation network. Adding speed cushions could improve safety for all on Jefferson Street – whether walking, biking, driving or taking the bus.”

City staff are holding a community meeting where people can learn about the proposal and share their comments.

Speed cushions slow traffic like speed humps while allowing emergency vehicles to move through the area. Speed cushions and speed humps are installed in many areas throughout the city including nearby Lincoln and Friendly streets. Learn more about traffic calming.
