In October 2019, the City of Eugene announced its intentions to launch an e-scooter pilot program in summer 2020. A pivotal first step in the pilot creation process is establishing criteria to help choose an e-scooter company that would be the best fit for Eugene. To this end, staff reached out to the community to understand its values, ideas, and concerns regarding e-scooters.
One method used to collect community input was through an online survey on the Engage Eugene website. It asked participants to select criteria regarding safety, sustainability, and equity that they consider most important for an e-scooter company to provide. Over the course of seven weeks, the survey received 541 responses! The results of the survey are now available! A summary report of survey results can be found at https://engage.eugene-or.gov/escooters and by request.
