On December 9, at approximately 3 p.m., police received information of a green 4-door 2003 Toyota Camry with light grey bumper, and an Oregon license plate reading 732LHD, traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Beltline. The vehicle attempted to elude the officer while traveling in a reckless manner in the area of Beltline and Gateway Boulevard. Numerous motorists flagged down responding officers, and provided information that assisted police with the location of the unoccupied vehicle a short distance away. Springfield K9 and Patrol assisted and were unable to locate the involved driver, who was observed leaving the area in an older white and blue Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The suspect is described as a black male, around the age of 30, six feet tall, with a medium build.
Police are asking the public for help and looking for additional witnesses who may have observed the vehicle traveling in an erratic manner, or the described suspect behaving suspiciously in the area of Game Farm Road and Pheasant Boulevard. Police are also asking for information from people who were in the area and might have seen the Jeep Cherokee that provided a ride to the suspect.
