[ARCHIVED] Burglary Suspect Caught After 15-foot Fall into Hole

On December 7 at 7:15 a.m., an employee of Oregon Pacific Bank, 59 E. 11th, reported a break-in at the location. Eugene Police units responded the checked the building, not finding the suspect. However, with some investigative work, they determined a possible suspect description and then a CAHOOTS call came in for a man with a foot injury, a short distance from the bank.

Officers found this interesting and followed up. Their investigation found the suspect had thrown stolen items out a ground floor window and jumped after them. However, the trajectory out the window was a 15-foot deep concrete hole that allowed access to a basement window directly below.

The officers contacted the suspect, Brett Kevin McDonald, age 53, of Cottage Grove , at a local hospital and provided him with a citation in lieu of custody for Burglary in the Second Degree.
