[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested following combined effort from multiple units

On December 4, the Street Crimes Unit received information from a source regarding the possible location of a suspect with a felony warrant who had eluded police on four occasions between November 1, 2019, to December 3, 2019. The incidents occurred three times in a silver Porsche Cayenne and once in black Chrysler Crossfire. Special Investigations assisted SCU with surveillance of the suspect’s probable location and was able to positively identify the suspect at the Home Towne Suites on Harlow Road in Springfield.


SWAT and K9 Cwyk responded with SCU and SIU to the location and contacted the suspect, Brandon Anthony Calhoun McFarland, age 26, of Eugene, who was taken into custody by SWAT with the assistance of K9 Cwyk. The arrest was the fourth time in two days that K9 Cwyk had assisted in the apprehension of a suspect. 


McFarland was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail on the following charges:

Four counts of Elude by Vehicle

Three counts of Reckless Driving

Escape in the Third Degree

Hit and Run (Felony)

Warrant (Felony)


Police are continuing the investigation and additional charges are pending.
