On December 3, around 1:15 a.m., police responded to a burglary in progress at Vero Café on 205 E. 14th Avenue, and a man who was observed attempting to gain access to the business by forcing his way through a window. K9 Cwyk and his partner located the described suspect a short time later on the property of a neighboring residence. The suspect, Christian Jacob Blunt, age 26, of Eugene, refused to follow direction from the officer and grabbed K9 Cwyk, and pulled at his leash while pushing away. A taser was deployed and Blunt continued to resist, and was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of K9 Cwyk.
Following investigation and evaluation from medics, Blunt was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Burglary in the Second Degree, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Interfering With Police and Resisting Arrest.
