Public Works crews spent Monday morning preparing equipment for potential winter weather. Weather forecasts Monday afternoon called for up to an inch of snow near the valley floor and up to two inches in higher elevations starting on Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory from noon on Tuesday, November 26, to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Public Works will monitor the weather and conditions as the storm moves through. If there is snow and ice accumulation, Public Works will execute its ice/snow emergency plan. Crews are on standby through the end of the week. They have up to 12 plows and several sanders and deicers ready to deploy.
As conditions deteriorate, people should expect slick roads and sidewalks. People driving should plan ahead and drive appropriately for the conditions. Road conditions and cameras are available on Tripcheck.com.
If the City declares and Ice/Snow Emergency, people are required to move their cars off of priority streets, as defined by the ice/snow emergency plan. This will allow plow operators room to safely move equipment. Also, property owners are responsible for maintaining their sidewalks and driveway aprons in good repair and safe condition, which includes clearing ice, snow, slippery leaves, and other debris, per City Code.
