[ARCHIVED] Traffic Advisory: Large Construction Projects Starting Soon

Road construction season is well underway in Eugene and two new projects are ready to get started:

  1.  Barger Drive, between Primrose and Altimont streets
  2.  Sections of W. 11th Avenue

As with any road construction project, people are urged to slow down and use caution when approaching and driving through work zones. Drivers should expect lane closures and shifts throughout the projects.

Barger Drive

The work on Barger Drive will change the look and feel of the corridor. Traffic signal modifications, lane configuration changes, median landscaping, and improvements for people who walk and bike will be completed as part of the project.

The Barger work is expected to last until early October and will cost approximately $2.5 million. A majority of the funding is coming from remaining funds from the 2012 road bond.

W. 11th Avenue

Work along W. 11th Avenue, between Bailey Hill Road and Oak Patch Road will begin soon, with crews initially starting with sidewalk access ramps. The road will be resurfaced and stormwater facilities near the project will be modified.

Most of the road work will be completed at night, however, drivers should still expect impacts during the day. The project is expected to be completed in October. Funding for the $1.9 million W. 11th construction project comes from the 2017 road bond.
