[ARCHIVED] Street Crimes Unit Arrest Yields Automatic Weapon

Last Friday, June 28, the Street Crimes Unit recovered multiple stolen vehicles and located a felon who had a warrant, methamphetamine, and a Mac 9 (automatic firearm).

An officer was patrolling the 4-Corners area on June 28 around 5:30 p.m. when he came across an occupied stolen vehicle that had just hours earlier been reported. SCU responded along with Eugene Police Patrol units and K9. They stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver and sole occupant, Jessica Ila Weatherly, age 28, of Hammond, Oregon. She was arrested on two warrants (Lane County Circuit Court Failure of Appear for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and Eugene Municipal Court Failure to Appear for Theft in the Second Degree). A search of the stolen vehicle reveled documentation from another vehicle, which was also confirmed as stolen. Weatherly was charged with two counts of Unauthorized Use of Vehicle and two counts of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Cases 19-10091, 19-09823, 19-10096

During Weatherly’s arrest, the officers’ investigation led to a second suspect, Kyle Thomas Davis, age 52, of Eugene. An officer located him at an address on Fir Lane, and arrested him on a confirmed warrant for Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle. During the contact, Davis was compliant and officers located a Mac 9 firearm, along with methamphetamine, a loaded magazine and box of ammunition. Davis was charged with Felon in Possession of a Machine Gun, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, PCS Methamphetamine, and the warrant for UEMV. Case 19-10095

When officers went to recover one of the stolen vehicle in the 1100 block of W. 27th Place, they found the vehicle as well as Dustin Abram Wilson, age 29, who was wanted for Criminal Mischief and Physical Harassment. They cited Wilson in lieu of custody for those charges.

This same day, an SCU officer was patrolling the Walmart parking lot on W. 11th and ran across an unoccupied stolen vehicle, which was recovered (no suspects were located).

The SCU has been focusing on prolific offenders, who are identified through intelligence-based policing, public tips and other sources. They have been proactively responding across the city to quality of life issues as they arise, using all available resources and partners such as community groups, neighborhood associations and city services.
