Incident 19155093/Case 1909450

At 10:30 p.m. on June 17, police were called to a burglary at an occupied home, where the homeowner was still in a dispute with the suspects. Officers quickly arrived and located one suspect, Coty James Trafton, age 22, at the home in the 600 block of E. 14th Avenue.

The other suspect, Corey Wormus, age 23, had fled on foot. Officers were able to track Wormus to 17th and High, where he was spotted by K-9 Officer Griffith and Cwyk. Wormus jumped some fences and continued to run south. A few minutes later Cwyk tracked Wormus to 18th and Pearl, where Wormus was again spotted and ran. This time Cwyk (pronounced ‘quick’) caught up to Wormus and he was taken into custody.

Wormus and Trafton were taken to a local hospital for possible heroin ingestion and Wormus was also treated for a K9 bite. This was an extensive track by Cwyk who led officers to the area of the suspect more than seven blocks away.
