Unit Continues Proactive Work
At
12:53 p.m., on April 24, Street Crimes Unit responded with the City’s Code
Enforcement to 810 W. 28th Avenue to assist with posting abatement letters on
the location. The City of Eugene’s Code Enforcement has received numerous
complaints about the location having large amounts of trash left outside and
people camping in the yard. Eugene Animal Services had several complaints
regarding dangerous and unlicensed dogs at the property. This house was posted
with a 10-day notice to get the trash removed and to immediately stop allowing
camping. Animal Services contacted a man at the location, Nile Deangelo
Glenn, age 25, regarding an unlicensed dog and issued him a citation. Glenn had
a warrant out of Lane County Circuit Court for Probation/Parole Violation
(Assault in the Fourth Degree APA and Contempt of Court). Officers
contacted Glenn regarding this matter and during a search incident to arrest,
Glenn was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was charged
with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine. Case

Street Crimes Unit focused on two suspects who have been reported to have committed numerous thefts from area retailers such as Fred Meyer and Coastal Farm. The two suspects, Garrett Jeffrey Hamilton, age 34, and Brittanie Lynn Shaner, age 27, also ran from an officers on Tuesday night near Winco, on Barger. SCU was able locate the pair at Fred Meyer on April 24 at 3:41 p.m., and took them into custody without incident. Hamilton provided consent to search his truck and officers were able to recovery property stolen from Home Depot and Goodwill. Shaner was charged with Theft in the Second Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine. Hamilton was charged with Stalking (warrant), Possession of Controlled Substance Heroin, and Theft in the Third Degree. Cases 19-05530, 19-06097
At
8:59 on April 24, officers contacted Anthony Robert Andreotti, age 42, of
Eugene, during a traffic stop at River Road and Knoop Lane. Andreotti was the
passenger and officers knew he had a warrant for his arrest for Possession of
Controlled Substance Heroin. The cover officer observed Andreotti making
some furtive movements and located heroin on his person. Officers
conducted a search of the area where Andreotti had been seated and located over
two grams of Heroin and Oxycodone pills. He was taken into custody on the
warrant and charged with Possession of More than One Gram of Heroin and
Possession of Oxycodone. Case 19-06108

The
SCU has been focusing on prolific offenders, who are identified through
intelligence-based policing, public tips and other sources. They have been
proactively responding across the city to quality of life issues as they arise,
using all available resources and partners such as community groups,
neighborhood associations and city services.
The
unit makes a dynamic difference in a variety of public safety issues including
on emerging crimes and neighborhood livability issues. This team creates
capacity within the organization to address and solve problems throughout the
city of Eugene. SCU is a tangible outcome of the one-time,18-month bridge
funding by Eugene City Council that is dedicated to targeting immediate and
acute community safety system issues while working toward mission-critical
enhancements that need to be addressed through a longer-term and broader
community safety initiative. The unit currently consists of a lieutenant, a sergeant
and four officers. The team will expand to include another sergeant and four
additional officers as staffing allows.
