On April 11, at 2:43 a.m., Eugene Police responded to a vehicle-bicycle crash, where the vehicle had left the scene at Chambers Street, south of W. 2nd. When officers arrived they contacted the 27-year-old male victim in the roadway. He was injured and his His bike was also severely damaged. Eugene Springfield Fire transported him to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
An officer at the scene located part of a car headlight assembly by the bike. While doing an area check, the officer was able to find a vehicle on W 2nd, east of Chambers with its hazard lights on and a man, later identified as Christopher Randall Ross, age 53, of Eugene, trying to change a flat right front tire. His car was missing some parts and had damage consistent with the crash. After an investigation, Ross was charged with Hit & Run – Felony, DUII, Assault in the Fourth Degree, and Reckless Driving.
