[ARCHIVED] Suspect in two armed robberies this week dies in crash

UPDATE FROM EUGENE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The deceased female, Amber Lynn Mosey, age 30, of St. Helens, was the primary suspect in two robberies this week:

  • Sips Drive Thru Espresso Bar, 4150 W. 11th, which was robbed of cash and some food at gunpoint on March 20 at 6:03 a.m.

  • Anna’s Deli, 4716 Royal Avenue, which was robbed of cash at gunpoint on March 19 at 2:01 a.m.

The red vehicle associated with Mosey during the Sips Drive Thru robbery was recovered at 7:30 a.m. on March 20 after the Sips robbery. An off-duty EPD officer spotted the vehicle in the 1300 block of Acorn Park and called it in. It had been stolen out of another jurisdiction on March 18. A Property Crimes detective developed information the suspect was Amber Mosey. Since that time, detectives had been seeking Mosey and at the time of her death, had an ‘attempt to locate’ for her. Mosey was considered armed and dangerous. A state wide crime bulletin was disseminated.

The vehicle involved in the crash in Jefferson was stolen from Valley River Center on March 21, and while Property Crimes detectives were out on that call, they received word of the police activity outside of Jefferson involving the stolen vehicle and subsequent crash. Several of the EPD Property Crime detectives responded to Jefferson to assist OSP with the investigation. They identified the driver to be Mosey. A loaded gun was found inside the vehicle and the two passengers were transported to a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
